Only trading with my own islands, where I can accept and trade all goods do the complicated routes really work out. What's the trick to trade routes? They seem potentially powerful but the way trading with NPCs works I feel like I have to micromanage my ships in order to make a profit otherwise my ships just sail around with full cargo bays. But the ship ended up filling up with goods because I guess the needs change so often that it makes doing what I was doing impossible, and the goods just fill up slots making the whole route pointless. The route would look good, and I'd send it off thinking I can not worry about it and I can focus on my island(s). My thought was, load up overproduced goods that are not being passively traded fast enough and then sell them to NPCs that need them, buy some goods I need along the way, and where there were gaps in the storage I'd try to buy goods from one stop and sell it off to islands requesting the goods later on. I started some trade routes, thought it was cool that I can basically write a program to create these routes. Like with Trade Routes, what's the goal with these? Are they basically exclusively for trading with my own islands and a few other NPCs that infinitely buy certain products? But there are some frustratingly confusing concepts and I feel like it's not well explained. Hey all, I am new to the Anno franchise, but liking Anno 1800 a lot.
